ACT! 2008 Minimum System Requirements  

The minimum system requirements indicate the minimum computer resources needed to simply run ACT!.  The recommended system requirements indicate the computer resources recommended to satisfactorily run ACT!.

 Client Computer/Laptops using Microsoft SQL Express: 

• Minimum Processor speed:             Minimum Pentium 4/1.8 GHz processor
  Recommended Processor speed:  Pentium 4/2.8 Ghz, Duo Core 1.6GHz or higher

• Minimum RAM Memory:    768 MB for Window XP, 1 GB for Vista
  Recommended Memory:  1 GB+ RAM for Windows XP, 2 GB+ of RAM for Vista

• Minimum Hard Drives:        5,400 RPM IDE, EIDE or ATA Drives - 5 GB+ available hard disk space
  Recommended Drives:     7,200 RPM SATA drives -  5 GB+ available hard disk space
• Required Operating System(s): Windows XP Home or XP Professional Service pack 2, Windows Vista Home, Business or Ultimate
• Office Suite:  Microsoft Office 2002/XP, 2003 or 2007 required for Outlook & Word integration
• Networking:  10/100 Mbps Switched Ethernet Network connection

Database Server using Microsoft SQL Express or SQL Server 2005 

• Minimum Processor speed:             Pentium 4/1.8 GHz processor
  Recommended Processor speed:  Pentium 4 - 2.8 GHz, Duo or Xeon 2.4 GHz or higher

• Minimum RAM Memory:    1 GB of RAM plus 1 GB RAM for every 10 users
  Recommended Memory:  2 GB of RAM  plus 1 GB RAM  for every 10 users

• Minimum Hard Drives:       SATA Hard Drive with 10 GB of available hard disk space  Recommended Drives:     10k RPM Ultra SCSI or 15k RPM SAS drives in RAID 0/1/5/10

• Required Operating System(s): Windows Vista, Windows Small Business Server 2003 Service pack 1, Windows  2003 Standard or Enterprise Edition Service pack 1
• Networking:         10/100 Mbps Switched Ethernet Network environment
• Synchronization:  768 MB Synchronous Internet connection w/ VPN or Internet (HTTP) access required

Note: Windows XP and Vista when used as a server limits the number of concurrent users to 10.

Database Server

• Comes with and uses Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or SQL Express 2005:
• Using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition: Microsoft® Windows® XP Home (Service Pack 2), XP Professional (Service Pack 2), Window Server 2003 Standard Edition, Server 2003 Enterprise Edition, Server 2003 Web Edition, 2003 Small Business Server operating systems  (all Server 2003 need at least Service Pack 1)
• Using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition: Microsoft® Windows® Server 2003 Standard Edition, Server 2003 Enterprise Edition, 2003 Small Business Server operating systems Enterprise Edition, Server 2003 Web Edition, 2003 Small Business Server operating systems (all Server 2003 need Service Pack 1). Microsoft Windows 2000 and earlier not supported.
